How To Sneak Up On Fish For More Success

You are probably thinking why some people could catch more fish effortlessly. Actually, there are some reasons why they were able to catch fish easily. They looked for the right location, they used the right bait, and they gave silence a very big importance while fishing. Quietness is an essential character that you should have if you want to catch more fish.

Staying silent and quiet during the fishing time is what I have been telling my clients who want to learn fishing. Fishing is just like hunting animals. You must stay quiet and calm if you do not want to startle them and let them run farther away from you. This is also applicable to fishing. If you want to catch big trout or redfish, you would really keep your calmness and you would never do such things that may scare the fish away. Even those people who are with you in the boat should also give importance to silence.

Learn To Read The Water To Catch More Fish

When reading a book you start out by looking at the cover, and the same is true for fishing. In this case, your cover is the weather and whatever conditions surround you. Note the wind speed and direction, where is the sun, what tidal movement is there if any, the temperature and so on. Whether you are going to fish from a boat, kayak or wade fish this information is vital to your success. It can tell you where to fish and what species you are going to target.

Winter Fishing Tips from Capt. Caserta

The tide was falling quickly when we decided to fish the cuts on the backside of San Jose Island, where the lakes drain into the Aransas Bay. It was a Saturday that I had picked up 3 clients and, as I figured, there were some redfish sitting around the cuts.

After a few trial and error casts, we changed the lures over to Devil Eyes in Gold Rush and Pink Hologram with a 1/16 oz jig as my clients fished from the boat while I drifted along the cuts.

The fish weren’t hitting hard so you really had to put the lure in front of them and set the hook; it was just one of those days. Also, the fish were holding on the mud and crushed shell bottom, even though the water was a little warmer. To catch any fish, you had to see some bait food in the area.

Spring Texas Fishing Report: The Black Drum Run

by Captain Kyle Tomek

Texas fishing in the spring can be a little bit of a challenge along the coast, at least for those anglers who have their sights set on speckled trout and redfish. Spring winds along the Texas coast tend to stir up the water and frustrate fishermen and women in search of these fish. However, there is an entirely different kind of action in store for Texas fishing enthusiasts this spring according to the initial spring fishing reports for the area: the black drum run is getting a lot of attention this year, with many anglers reporting excellent catches last year and eagerly anticipating the upcoming spring run.

Fat Redfish with Capt. Paul Braly

by Captain Paul Braly

I fished today with Jeff Austin of Texas Tops. Jeff and I were pre-fishing for this weekend’s Texas Trout Series and it was a tough stick. We did not find what we were looking for, however lucky for us we brought along some Devil Eyes so that we could at least get our lines streched.

At first, we just waded through the chosen spot, which was actually the same spot where I had full-packed actions the other day. But now it was such a dead spot for fishing except for the single wandering mullet. Jeff made his first cast with the 1/4 oz Truloc on an Amber Devil Eyes. No red was hooked up unfortunately. I did my casts of Amber as well. The first throw was also empty but after several minutes, I got my first 18″ Speck for the day. After a few more minutes, we decided to move to another spot.
